Welcome to the Rose Garden School! Located just outside of Crozet in beautiful Batesville, Virginia, the school offers a welcoming, nurturing, play-based preschool and Kindergarten experience for children from 2 1/2 to 7 years of age. The Rose Garden is a non-profit 501(c)(3).

About Us
The Rose Garden was founded by Waldorf educator and author Sharifa Oppenheimer. With Sharifa’s retirement in 2016, long-time colleague Rebecca Garson–a trained Waldorf Early Childhood Educator with 28 years experience–has created a new home for the school. The Rose Garden is designed to fit each family’s individual needs, offering full and partial days anywhere from 1-5 days per week.

Our Philosophy
The Rose Garden School is a play-based, mixed-age pre-school and kindergarten where children are able to grow and explore the world around them. Through daily and seasonal rhythms, children are able to unfold their true selves in a supportive and family-like setting. The school nurtures a love of the Earth and companionship through both play and meaningful work while children learn how to interact with others and their environment in a gentle, supportive and supported way.
