The Rose Garden is a 501(c)(3) non-profit play-based preschool and kindergarten located in beautiful Batesville, Virginia, about ten minutes outside of Crozet.  The Rose Garden was originally founded by long-time Waldorf educator and author Sharifa Oppenheimer (Heaven on Earth: A Handbook for Parents of Young Children).  With Sharifa’s retirement in 2016, long-time colleague Rebecca Garson has created a new home for the school in a cute little yellow house, on top of a hill, in the middle of a field, on an old 1,000 acre horse farm.  Rebecca is a trained Waldorf early childhood educator who has been teaching for 29 years and has been lead teacher at the Rose Garden since 2012.

The Rose Garden is designed to fit each individual family’s needs and schedules, offering anywhere from one to five days per week.  Children can attend for a full day (8:30am-3pm) or partial day (8:30am-1:45pm).  Children’s families are involved on a daily basis, and special festivals and field trips throughout the year allow parents to be a part of the joy.
